Support and resistance are integral to technical analysis and a key plank of volume-price analysis methodology. It therefore makes sense to use the best tools possible to highlight the areas and levels on a chart where the price action is going and where it might stall. At Quantumtrading, we have developed price- and volume-based tools to help traders and investors make sense of price action, and we have a great example of how the accumulation and distribution indicator, the volume point of control, and Camarilla pivot levels have all come together on the weekly chart.

The precious metal has recently found its mojo once again, lifting off a triple bottom at the $1632 region. It also coincides with the volume support and achieved the $1812 level, where it now faces its first primary price resistance level in the form of the accumulation and distribution indicator. We can see this given the thickness of the blue hatched line. The line thickens and...

Volume price analysis signals appear across all markets and timeframes. In this recording, David & I consider these on the DXY, the Indices, and the triple-levered semi-conductor ETF, the SOXL. However, as we explain, it is essential to view vpa not only in multiple timeframes but also in the context of support and resistance, which is where the Quantum indicators can help the accumulation and distribution indicator, particularly which not only marks these key levels on the chart but also confirms their relative strength. It does this by thickening the line each time it is touched, giving us a clear visual picture of the effort required to break through the levels.
Using Support and Resistance in Multiple Timeframes on DXY, Indices, and SOXL
Support and resistance levels are essential for traders. They mark where price often pauses, reverses, or breaks. Using them across multiple timeframes adds depth. Higher timeframes reveal major levels. Lower timeframes time entries. This alignment creates high-probability setups. Volume...
In the first part of the London forex trading session, I explain all you need to know to trade the euro with confidence ahead of a busy week for the single currency. And the question moving forward is whether Italy will be the next country to leave the EU and return to the lire which allowed it to manage the economy by devaluation.

How to Find the Best Times to Trade Forex Based on Volatility
Forex markets aren't equally volatile 24/5. Volatility spikes during high-liquidity overlaps. This creates bigger moves and better opportunities. Low-volatility periods often range—frustrating for trend traders. Finding the "best" times means matching your style to session volatility.
Throughout the trading session, volatility ebbs and flows and knowing when to trade and when to wait is key. In this session from the US futures trading session, we take a closer look at this aspect of trading through the prism of volatility.
Major Forex Sessions and Volatility Levels
The forex day divides into three main sessions (times in GMT, adjust for daylight saving):
Asian Session (Tokyo: ~00:00-09:00 GMT)
Low to moderate volatility.
Focus: JPY pairs (USD/JPY, AUD/JPY). Commodity currencies (AUD, NZD) move on China/Australia data.
Best for: Ranges or carry trades. Avoid if you need big swings.
London Session (08:00-17:00 GMT)
High volatility—liquidity surges at open.
EUR, GBP pairs dominate. Overlap with Europe drives early...
Sessions crossovers arrive daily and the big one is always when the London forex market gets underway with the deepest liquidity. This is when the market makers are at their most active from 8am UK time with volatility, reversals and congestion following. Some of the traps are on high volume as the market makers participate, others on low volume, but all are clearly signalled with volume price analysis and the volatility indicator for MT4, MT5, NinjaTrader or Tradestation.

Watch Out for More Traps on Volatility and the News!
Volatility and news go hand in hand in forex trading. Releases create sharp moves. But they also set traps. False breakouts catch impatient traders. This is common in GBP/USD during European data. Here it's the GBP/USD as European data is released with the PMI data for France and Germany with the volatility indicator for MT5 and NinjaTrader signalling this clearly in all timeframes.
European PMI Data and GBP/USD Volatility
European PMI data for France and Germany drives early action. Strong figures boost risk sentiment. Weak ones favor caution. GBP/USD reacts fast. Volatility spikes at release. But not all moves last.
How Traps Form on News
News spikes often lack volume support. Price breaks levels. Traders chase. But low volume reveals weakness. Reversal follows. Volume price analysis (VPA) spots this—high price on low volume = trap.
Quantum Volatility Indicator Signals

Many of the currency market pairs remain rangebound and trading in congestion ranges as risk on and risk off oscillates with the ebb and flow of pandemic news daily, with fundamental data taking a secondary role.

Support & Resistance Trading & Candle Patterns
Support and resistance trading forms the backbone of technical analysis. These levels act as barriers. Price often bounces or breaks at them. Candle patterns add confirmation. They show buyer/seller battles at key zones. Support & resistance is a key element of classic technical analysis and one of the five pillars of volume price analysis. And when combined with support & resistance from both a price and volume based perspective will give traders and investors additional confidence in identifying whether a trend is likely to reverse or not.
Key Candle Patterns at Levels
Reversal patterns like hammers or shooting stars shine at support/resistance. A hammer at support signals buying pressure. Doji candles show indecision. Engulfing patterns indicate strong shifts. Volume price analysis (VPA) validates these—high volume on reversal candles confirms conviction.
Practical Application
Combine levels with patterns for better entries. Wait for candle close at support/resistance. Check volume for strength. Quantum indicators on NinjaTrader or MT5 highlight levels and...
