Firestorm in the British Pound
2022 brought a firestorm to the British pound. Volatility exploded in September. The mini-budget triggered chaos. GBP/USD crashed to record lows near 1.03. Markets panicked. This created dramatic swings and trading opportunities.
Extreme market volatility can provide some great trading opportunities. In this video, David explains how he approached the recent firestorm in the British pound and how extreme financial and mainstream media views can often signal a dramatic reversal. As was the case for the sterling pairs.
The Volatility Storm Hits GBP
Policy announcements sparked the sell-off. Sterling weakened sharply. Cable plunged on high-volume down candles. This showed conviction in bearish sentiment. Risk-off flows favored USD. Volume price analysis (VPA) revealed distribution—sellers dominated without buying support.
VPA Signals During the Crash
VPA highlighted the intensity. Down candles widened on surging volume. No volume bounces signaled traps for buyers. Quantum Trend Monitor on MT5 or NinjaTrader stayed red. Currency strength indicator ranked GBP at extremes—weakest major.

Forex Technical Analysis Tools
In this video, David & I look at the currencies ahead of tomorrow's Non-Farm Payroll release, particularly the USD and its relationship with bonds and stocks. We also cover the importance of monthly charts and how the volatility indicator can provide insight into the likely price action the following month. We also explain where traders can find volatility metrics for the pairs.
Forex technical analysis tools help traders make sense of complex markets. They reveal trends, sentiment, and potential moves. Volume price analysis (VPA) forms the foundation. Quantum Trading indicators enhance this on platforms like MT5, NinjaTrader, and TradingView.
Essential Tools for Forex Analysis
The currency strength indicator ranks currencies by performance. It spots leaders and laggards quickly. The currency matrix shows relational dynamics across pairs. Heatmap colors intensity for fast reads. These tools simplify pair selection and sentiment gauging.

Along with several volume price lessons on the 5 min chart for the YM E-mini, the futures contract for the Dow Jones, David explains how traders can benefit from trading this contract outside the heavily volatile US session. By looking at a faster chart we can see the activity increase at session crossovers such as the London open and by applying vpa & using the Quantum indicators, take advantage of some steady, measured price action.
And using the principles of volume price analysis and the trend monitor will also help to keep us in a trade.

A look at the weekly Tesla chart where the price action has been moving sideways for some time creating a strong channel of price action which has been defined by the accumulation & distribution indicator. In doing so we now have the key levels that must be breached before a clear direction of the trend is established and any successful trend has to be accompanied by strong volume.
Finally, Q2 earnings are due on 20th July which may provide the catalyst for the breakaway from the current consolidation.

Stock Analysis Using the Volume Point of Control & Accumulation & Distribution Indicators
Stock analysis becomes clearer with volume price analysis (VPA) tools. The Volume Point of Control (VPOC) and Accumulation & Distribution indicators reveal hidden intent. They show where professionals buy or sell. This helps spot trends, reversals, and key levels in stocks.
In this video, David & I cover using the Quantumtrading support & resistance indicators for stocks such as Fate Therapeutics, Apple & Tesla. The indicators in question are the volume point of control, which marks out key levels in terms of volume, and the price-based accumulation and distribution indicator. This indicator is unique in that once the indicator marks a level it will thicken each time that level is tested and holds.
What this does for the trader and investor is give a clear visual picture...
The accumulation & distribution indicator combined with the volume point of control highlight perfectly what is likely to happen on the QQQ which is the ETF for the Nasdaq 100 and one of the most liquid instruments in the market with an average daily volume of over 75m so plenty of liquidity. However, given the price action looks to be congesting in the accumulation & distribution channel shown on the weekly chart it's no surprise that volumes are about half the usual average.
However, this is normal as volume always falls whenever a chart is in congestion/consolidation. The reason for this new phase of price action is in many ways not surprising given the recent volatility as the index (and markets take a breather) but we can expect volatility to pick up towards the end of the week with the CPI releases and next week, of course, we have the FOMC which is when the FED is expected to raise interest...
The volatility indicator together with reading the volume and understanding its relationship to the price action and candles reveals the cynicism behind the pump & dump of Plug Power. Note too the price channel defined by the accumulation & distribution indicator.
