Step 1: Start with the Currency Strength Indicator

In the London forex session we explain how to apply some of the currency trading tools and indicators for MT5 and Ninjatrader on time based charts, before moving to the renko indicator with the trend monitor and trends indicators.

The currency in focus was the euro across the complex with strong moves for the pound and the US dollar.

The Currency Strength Indicator ranks major currencies live. Strong ones rise to the top. Weak fall to the bottom. Extremes highlight opportunities:

  • Top currency vs bottom = strong trend potential.
  • Sustained extremes = momentum trade.
  • Fading extremes = reversal setup.

This is your starting point—scan for relational leaders fast.

Step 2: Confirm with the Currency Matrix and Heatmap

The Matrix grids all pairs. It shows cross-pair bias. Bold colors flag momentum. The Heatmap adds intensity—deep green/red cells signal active pairs.

Look for alignment:

  • Strong currency in CSI = green cells in matrix row.
  • This relational confluence identifies high-conviction trades.

Step 3: Visualize Momentum with the Currency Array

The Array displays pairs as lines fanning from center. Steep lines = strong trends. Flat = congestion. This shows momentum flow clearly. Combine with CSI extremes for timing.

Step 4: VPA for Final Confirmation

Indicators guide where to look. VPA confirms with volume:

  • High volume on CSI-extreme moves = conviction entry.
  • Low volume at extremes = potential reversal or trap.

Quantum Trend Monitor aligns direction. This reduces false signals.

Practical Identification Examples

  • CSI shows GBP strong, JPY weak. Matrix green in GBP/JPY cells. High volume rally—long entry.
  • Heatmap deep red in EUR/USD. CSI EUR weak. High volume down candle—short confirmation.
  • Array steep red lines in yen crosses. Risk-off sentiment—short momentum.

Benefits for Traders

These indicators turn complexity into clarity. Spot opportunities fast. Avoid low-momentum noise. VPA adds conviction. Quantum tools on MT5 or NinjaTrader make relational trading reliable.

Currency trading indicators identify opportunities efficiently. Quantum suite with VPA delivers a disciplined edge. Start relational—finish with volume confirmation.

Volume Price Analysis Basics: Reading Market Intent Through Price and Volume

Volume Price Analysis (VPA) is a straightforward yet powerful trading methodology. It combines price action with trading volume. This reveals true market intent—what professionals are doing behind the scenes. High volume on moves shows conviction. Low volume warns of weakness or traps. VPA works across all markets and timeframes. No complex math—just logical interpretation of candles and volume.

Core Principles of VPA

VPA focuses on three key elements:

  1. Price Spread (candle range): Wide spread = high activity. Narrow = indecision.
  2. Close Position: Close near high = strength. Near low = weakness. Middle = balance.
  3. Volume: The driver. High volume validates price moves. Low volume questions them.

Together, they show professional buying (accumulation) or selling (distribution).

Basic VPA Signals

  • Strength: Up candle with wide spread, closing high, on high volume—buyers in control.
  • Weakness: Down candle wide spread, closing low, high volume—sellers dominating.
  • No Demand: Narrow up candle on low volume—buyers absent (potential reversal lower).
  • No Supply: Narrow down candle on low volume—sellers absent (potential reversal higher).
  • Stopping Volume: Ultra-high volume halting decline—buyers absorbing supply.
  • Climactic Volume: Extreme volume at highs/lows—exhaustion, often marks turns.

Divergence: Price new high/low on low volume = fading conviction—reversal likely.

Why VPA Works

Markets move on supply and demand. Professionals trade large volumes. This leaves footprints. Retail traders chase price. VPA aligns you with smart money. Quantum indicators on NinjaTrader or MT5 visualize this—VPOC for control levels, Accumulation/Distribution for phases.

Getting Started with VPA

Practice on historical charts. Focus on majors or emini futures—reliable volume. Ask: Does volume support price? Quantum tools accelerate learning—Trend Monitor aligns direction.
